Hello! I was looking through a few of my old magazines and stumbled upon my copy of with's February issue from 2017. I translated a few things that I found really interesting--specifically the letters L, S, and Y--from the Arashi Dictionary. Hope you enjoy!

Leader
Sakurai: Back in our debut days, we had different genres of leaders in the group. For example, Ohno-san was the “dance leader” and Matsujun was the “comedy leader”.
Ninomiya: We should come up with new ones.
Aiba: Then, maybe we should make Ohno-san the “fashion leader”? Recently, he’s been saying things like “I want to become fashionable." Even when you ask him “What do you want for your birthday?”, he’ll answer with “Anything fashionable." (laughs)
Ohno: It's just--I'm plain.
Nino: That's okay (laughs), you're fine the way you are.
Ohno: Still, even if it's just once, I want to hear someone say something like, "When you say Arashi's fashion leader, then it's definitely Ohno-san!"
Matsumoto: Are you okay with wearing flashy clothing then?
Ohno: Yeah. Or more like--I want to be able to wear them.
Sakurai: Wait, we're just talking about his goals now! What "leader" is he supposed to be?! (laughs)
Ohno: I still want to become fashionable...
Aiba: Well, the person in question is saying that, so maybe we can just call him the "I-want-to-become-fashionable leader"? (laughs)
Matsumoto: Yeah, let's just stick with that. (laughs) Sho-kun can be the "memory leader". Recently, he's been sending a lot of photos in our private group chat. Like when we went to Sapporo Dome for our concert, he sent us a photo of Leader and the ramen he ordered. (laughs)
Ninomiya: Oh, you mean that photo of "Leader taking a photo of his ramen"?
Sakurai: Yeah, that one. Okay, as the "memory leader", I'll send one right now. (takes a photo of the interview session and sends it to the group chat)
Matsumoto: Wow, he's really the "memory leader". (laughs)
Aiba: He's like a mom.
Sakurai: Arashi's photos have to be managed carefully, you know? (laughs) That's why I'll only ever send these photos to our group.
Ninomiya: Definitely. It's just for the five of us.
Aiba: By the way, is it better if we save those photos in our devices?
Sakurai: Nah, you can just save it in your hearts.
Aiba: Got it. I'll save it in my heart's memory.
Sakurai: Nino's definitely the "first-to-go-home leader". He just too fast! We all go back to the greenroom after filming, right? I could pass by the restroom for a while, and when I get back, he'd already be gone.
Matsumoto: Right?! It really only takes a few minutes and then, he's gone!
Ninomiya: Isn't Leader pretty quick to leave too?
Ohno: No way, you're definitely faster than I am.
Sakurai: Ohno-san is likely the second one to leave, but the difference in your speeds is quite big.
Aiba: Oh, and Matsujun would be the "monologue leader"!
Matsumoto: That's a bit creepy. (laugh) Have I been doing it recently as well?
Sakurai: I mean, we all do that, but--
Aiba: Matsujun does it really often! (laugh) When you eat and find something delicious, you go [in a loud voice] "This is so good!" You also say things like "Oh no..." and "I'm so tired!" out loud.
Matsumoto: I'm completely unaware of this... (laugh)
Sakurai: We're pretty used to it though.
Ninomiya: To the point that we don't even react anymore. (laugh)
Ohno: It's funny when he accidentally hits something. He's like, "OUCH!!"
Matsumoto: Ah, that one. I hit my little toe and it was really painful! Anyway, Aiba-kun's definitely the "sweets leader", right? After all, he's the one who brought the custom into our group.
Aiba: There's like a giant refrigerator for cakes in our greenroom now, because of me. It's like a cake shop there. (laughs)
Sakurai: Maybe the time has come for you to passionately talk about sweets in women's magazines. (laughs) It could even be a special issue.
Matsumoto: That's right. You could be on the cover for magazines featuring sweets danshi (a label for guys who like sweets).
Aiba: That'd be cool! Since I like sweets a lot.
Matsumoto: For real though, they always line up the cakes beautifully for us, and it sure gets your attention.
Sakurai: They even write down explanations of the cakes for us.
Ohno: Oh yeah, there were!
Aiba: Yeah, those were thanks to the staff. I'm not the one writing those, okay? (laughs)
Matsumoto: Of course. It'd be shocking if you were the one who wrote those. (laughs) Remember that time before the concert started? When everyone was acting quite stylishly.
Ninomiya: We were all eating cake while listening to music.
Matsumoto: And we were drinking coffee, too. (laughs)
Ninomiya: Seeing that, you went [imitates Matsumoto] "This is pretty stylish!"
Matsumoto: It was the dream collaboration between the "monologue leader" and the "sweets leader". (laughs)

Solo Number
Sakurai: From past 'til present, we've all performed various solo numbers. If you were to perform another member's solo, what would you pick?
Ohno: What would I pick... Ah, I'd go for Matsujun's Yabai-Yabai-Yabai.
Sakurai: And do the MJ Walk?
Ohno: I want to know how painful it was! The wire action for the movie Shinobi no Kuni was quite difficult, so I'm curious as to how it goes with the MJ Walk.
Ninomiya: By the way, what would you say is the most important point for the MJ Walk?
Matsumoto: It's all about fighting spirit! (laughs)
Sakurai: As for me, I'd pick Aiba-kun's Disco Star. However, I don't think I can become Disco Star-sama, so I'll just backdance.
Aiba: No no, you can. Not just backdance, but become Disco Star-sama! Come to think of it, at the end of our concerts, Sho-chan does the Disco Star Bye-bye.
Sakurai: Yeah, I've been doing it all this time!
Ninomiya: Only Aiba-san calls that the Disco Star Bye-bye. (laughs) For me, I'd pick the solo J sang in Miyagi.
Matsumoto: You mean Come back to me? The one where I fly around.
Ninomiya: Yeah, that one. I want to try doing it.
Aiba: Wasn't that really painful?
Matsumoto: It was. It was like some sort of torture device. (laughs)
Sakurai: Like swimming in space, wasn't it?
Matsumoto: It's really tough if you don't train your semicircular canals. Aside from it being really fast, you get dragged around.
Ohno: Don't you get scared?
Matsumoto: I don't. I have an unbelievable amount of trust in wires.
Sakurai: That's... amazing... (has acrophobia)
Matsumoto: I trust wires more than I trust myself.
Sakurai: That sounds like a famous saying!
Ninomiya: [whispers] Just like a stuntman.
Ohno: Hehehe, a stuntman... (laughs)
Matsumoto: I wonder what I would choose.
Sakurai: Matsujun is familiar with all our solos, after all.
Matsumoto: It's hard to just decide on one. But first, I'd go with Nino's Gimmick Game.
Ninomiya: Ooh! Gimi-ge.
Sakurai: I like that song too.
Matsumoto: It seems like recently, Nino hasn't danced in his solos. For Gimmick Game, the dance was intense, right? I want to dance like that too.
Ninomiya: If it's Matsumoto-san, you'd be able to pull it off with no problem. You wouldn't even need my advice!
Matsumoto: You performed it for Arafes, too, right? And you did it without back dancers. That was really cool.
Ninomiya: Thanks! And lastly, how about you, Aiba-san?
Aiba: Sho-chan's T.A.B.O.O!
Ohno: Ooh! T.A.B.O.O!
Aiba: With the policeman uniform.
Sakurai: Taboo Policeman? (laughs)
Aiba: I wanted to become the Taboo Policeman~ (laughs)
Ninomiya: Aiba-san... It's not a song about policemen's taboos.
Aiba: Huh? It's not?
Matsumoto: I think he should be the one arrested. (laughs)
Aiba: I see, I see. The introduction video for T.A.B.O.O had an amazing impact though! I want copy everything and perform it!

Yet
Ninomiya: If we're talking about something we've never done before as five, then it would be a musical, right?
Ohno: Oh, that--we've talked about that before too.
Sakurai: The fact that it hasn't happened yet--well.
Matsumoto: It means nobody really wants to see it. (laughs)
Ninomiya: Well, it doesn't really matter what we do or what the story is about. What matters is that it's with the five of us.
Sakurai: If we're look at the possibilities, realistically speaking, I think we could make a musical movie.
Aiba: You're being so serious about this! (laughs)
Matsumoto: Yeah, that one has a higher possibility of happening.
Sakurai: Or maybe, we could do it Bollywood-style and start singing at the end of the movie. I think those kinds of movies are good too.
Matsumoto: Alright! I'm gonna look up Bollywood movie directors.
Sakurai: Would anyone even want to see something like that?! (laughs)
Matsumoto: If we make this happen, we'll be filming in India for around a month or so.
Ninomiya: Uhm, we started with talking about musicals, so how'd we arrive at Bollywood movies? (laughs)
Ohno: Just a movie would be fine, wouldn't it? I feel like I wouldn't be able to hold in my laughter if we did a musical.
Aiba: If we're talking about movies with the five of us, then wouldn't it have to be Pikanchi?
Sakurai: Something like Kiiroi Namida: The Musical just wouldn't work, huh~ It would be so plain. I can't even imagine how it'd turn out. (laughs)

I don't know if I'll ever translate the entire Arashi Dictionary, but if there is a demand, then maybe I will--or well, if I actually have the time... ;u;
Neither English nor Japanese is my first language, therefore translations may not be 100% accurate. However, rest assured that I try my best in making it as accurate as possible.
